Granada
We took an Alsa bus from Malaga to Granada. I had prebooked our tickets for only 8E per person promotional rate. The bus had a toilet and WIFI onboard. We purchased hot sandwiches, bocadillos, at the station. We couldn't sit together but my husband was with our son and I was alone. But for the price and duration it was fine.
I bought a package with Lebara SIM card and 10E of calls and data. I had spent 2 nights to make it work as they ask for a picture to be uploaded. I didn't realise my phone wasn't able to handle it. Whe I tried my sosn's phone it finally worked, but I received no confirmation, however, when we later tried using it, it worked fine, yey.
When we arrived in Granada we took the public bus to downtown. I bought a credibus 10E card, so we didn't have to look around for ticket kiosks. The card can be used for several people and we used it to town, to the Alhambra and back to the bus station. Granada itself is small and very walkable except for some areas of Albaicin and Alhambra.
We were a bit sleepy when we arrived. A local woman on the bus has indicated directions to us to Catedral stop. We tried using the GPS then but it couldn't find the hotel street. We walked in circles a bit. I found a map of Granada I had printed and we we less than 50 meters from the hotel. In fact from the bus we should have directly walked to the hotel street just facing the bus station. But the GPS animal decided otherwise.
Hotel Inglaterra is very well located in a pedestrian or partly pedestrian street. Personnel were very kind and our room was ready. We took the elevator, then some steps and wow! The most beautiful views of Albaicin and Alhambra from our window.

Last time with my husband back in 2001 we stayed at the hotel Reina Cristina, which was a house where Garcia Lorca was arrested. It is a very special hotel-museum. Inglaterra was better located for our needs this time traveling with a teen.
We went out to purchase some food and wine, cava, drinks for a room picnic before a siesta. In the evening, when the heat is more bearable we went out for a walk and located the bus stop for next morning to the Alhambra. We had to pickup our tickets from the counter because our son had a reduced fare.
We then walked around the old Granada shopping and wandered into the Catedral, which had a mass and was free to visit. We bought some candles there. Moreover his mother was working with me, so we could have a chat. They were touring with their family and started in Barcelona, and 2 days in each city, which they found short for places like Barcelona it is not enough.
Then for our dinner we found La Gran Taberna for tapas. This place is very typical and surrounded by cured hams legs and barrels of wine we were served free tapas with each drink. You have to come later enough, past 8PM, when they open kitchens for more various tapas. We also ordered a local ham board and it was big and delicious. What a nice place! People were watching and discussing the World Cup.
Other than that the whole place around the hotel had numerous restaurants, tapas bars and food to go places.
